  VOLUNTEER
We need all types of volunteers:

You can volunteer for any hours, any amount of time you would like, any you
get to pick which activities you would like to be involved in! (Such a deal!)

We need people to (two or more in each team) go door to door passing out flyers.

We are developing a “Quick Response Letter Team” to write emails/letters when a
legislative issue comes up. Letters can be short (even one line) long, or in-between.
All issues will be explained in detail – you don’t need to be a political whiz – just
need to be able to write a letter on fairly short notice most of the time when a
prompt comes in from AIHM. This will mostly be January to early May, 2008.
We need a lot of volunteers for this. (If you disagree with the issue, no
worries – you can sit this one out).

We need a “Quick Response Telephone Team”. This is the same as above, only you
would call appropriate legislators, governors office, etc. You don’t need to know who
to call – we’ll tell you what is going on. We will work off of a phone tree. (If you disagree
with the issue – no worries – you can sit this one out)

Set up for meetings: Pick up water for attendants; set up chairs, pass out flyers
prior to meetings, tidy up after meetings.

Various things that come up during the year. You can be on the volunteer list and then
decide each time if you are available at that time or not.

All volunteers are required to have fun and meet new people.

We need as many people as possible to come to Oahu on January 16th, 2008, to
greet the legislature on opening day. We will all wear the same shirts so we are
recognizable. You can choose to be part of the peaceful rally, carry signs, make noise,
or talk to the media. Everyone is welcome to take time to go door to door in the
State Capitol building and speak with the legislators and let them know our lives
are in their hands. (They have great pupu’s on opening day of the legislature
   and it’s fun!)

All volunteers – contact Jan to be on the volunteer list: information@AIHM-maui.org.

DONATIONS

Please send donations to:

AIHM
Association For Improved Healthcare on Maui
P.O. Box 11420
Lahaina, HI 96761

Donations are used for a consulting firm to fight the CON (Certificate of Need).  Donations are also used for various political lobbying and actions to influence legislature.  All donators get a monthly accounting of where funds were used. Donations are used to pay Jan’s salary so she can continue this battle full time.

We are currently exploring our non profit status possibilities.  We are a very political group.  We have to be - the only reason we cannot build more hospitals on Maui is that the state is protecting the state by not letting free enterprise compete with state run institutions.  Sorry!

Please donate either way – we are battling a huge political machine and we cannot do it without your help!  Mahalo!
